Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has described the actions of impeached speaker Mudashiru Obasa as a show of shame.
Recall that Mr. Obasa, on Thursday invaded the Assembly’s complex with some security men, fully armed, alongside four members of the house to preside over plenary session.
The development is coming, amid leadership tussle rocking the state’s house of Assembly.
Mr. Obasa, who was impeached by the state’s lawmakers on the 13th of January, 2025, over financial misconducts, insisted that he remain speaker of the house.
He added that his removal was illegal and unconstitutional.
On Thursday, Mrs. Meranda lost her security details, a decision which was later restored by the state Police Command.

Reacting to the development on Friday, the Speaker, while addressing newsmen, said that out of 12 officers, only four was released for her.
She said: “This is actually just the beginning. Just like what happened in there, both parties have their representatives and I think we should allow the legal team to do their job.
“I think he is still a member of the House of Assembly so he has every right to come but the invasion and breaking into my office, that is really a big one.
“We have numbers that form a quorum, so if you’re sitting with three or four members, you’re only doing theatre.
“I have three or four policemen, whereas my normal convoy, my team, 12 policemen, four DSS, and two anti-bomb units. But I don’t have that this morning.
“I think to me that was just a show of shame because in our job we have numbers that form quorum.
“So if you are sitting with three or four members, you are only doing theatre.”
