President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led government has congratulated Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America.
This was contained in a statement by Spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, on Tuesday.
Kimiebi emphasized the enduring and historic relationship between Nigeria and the United States.
She highlighted shared cooperation in critical areas such as good governance, sustainable development, and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

The ministry also expressed Tinubu’s government commitment to enhance strategic partnership with US under Trump’s leadership.
The statement read: “The Federal Republic of Nigeria congratulates President Donald Trump following his successful inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America.
“Nigeria and the United States of America have enjoyed cooperation in diverse areas of mutual interest, especially in the promotion of good governance, sustainable development, and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
“Nigeria therefore looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant strategic partnership for the benefit of all our people.”
Recall that Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday during a historic inauguration ceremony held inside the Capitol Rotunda due to inclement weather.
