Budding Nigerian artiste, Temilade Openiyi, alias Tems, has reportedly embarked on a hunger strike while still in police custody in Uganda.

Information Nigeria recalls the singer was arrested alongside her colleague, Omah Lay for flouting COVID-19 protocols and performing at an unauthorized concert that was held on Saturday in Ddungu Resort in Munyonyo, Kampala City.

The singers were arraigned on charges of doing “acts that are likely to cause the spread of infectious disease Covid-19” and they will be remanded till Wednesday.

A video circulating on social media captures the moment Tems insisted that she was not going to put food in her mouth while in the courtroom.

The ‘Try Me’ singer could be heard saying;

“I don’t want to eat unless you strap me to a chair and force food down my throat,

⁣”It’s my body…what if l want to die, then you don’t have a say. I don’t want to eat..you can’t be forcing food down my throat. I have not eaten for the past 24 hours and l won’t eat for the next 48 hours,” she could be heard saying.”⁣
