President Muhammadu Buhari’s 800 meters walk from a prayer ground to his residence in Daura has been a hot topic all week.
The walk, which also prompted former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who hopes to clinch the People’s Democratic Party ticket for next year’s presidential election to post a picture of himself at the gym declaring how fit he is.
Mr President taking to twitter on Friday evening said he didn’t walk the distance to prove a point to anyone. He revealed that the car which he was in, had tainted glass and as such, those who came out to see him, couldn’t. Buhari said he had to go and walk with them, so they go see him.
Buhari further explained that he was one to ‘chase cheap political points.
See what he wrote below
Much has been said about my walk in Daura,a few days ago. I didn’t do it to prove my fitness to anybody. The people of my constituency came out in large numbers to see me, & the car in which I was had tinted windows. So I decided to come out of the car so the people could see me.

People who know me know that I am not given to chasing cheap political points. The crowd in Daura were not seeing me so I came out of the car so they could see me. I didn’t and don’t need to walk to convince anyone about my health and the decision to contest for a second term.

The president also mentioned that they were working hand-in-hand with the Bank of Industry to make it easier for farmers and traders to access loans.
We are working to make it easier for traders and farmers to access loans. The Bank of Industry has recently launched a collateral-free scheme for traders. And I have directed the Ministry of Agriculture and the CBN to review the loan issuance process for our smallholder farmers.
