The German Bundesliga kick starts in style as Bayern Munich saw of stubborn Hoffeinham by beating them three goals to one. Hoffenheim had prior to this encounter, lost to Bayern Munich just once in their last five meetings. They came into the game hoping to cause an upset but Bayern had other ideas.
The German champion, Bayern Munich, who welcome Manuel Nuer back into the line up after almost one year of missing out through injury, dictated early proceedings as expected. But the resolute Hoffenheim defence kept them at bay until the 23rd minutes when Thomas Muller opened the scoring from a corner kick.
One would have though of onslaught after the first goal but Hoffeinham rather grew into the game and got their equalizer in the 57th inutes in style.
Bayern then started pouring out in numbers hoping to get ahead again but Hoffeinham kept frustrating them until the got a penalty in the 79th minutes. There was wild drama however, as Lewandoski missed from the spot and Robben bundled the rebounds in only to be called by VAR for a retake.
Lewandoski however kept his cool this time as he sent the keeper the wrong way. Any hope of a come back was put to rest in the 90th minute when Robben blasted a third into the net.
