The Ghalib Law Chambers, owned by renowned legal expert Prof. Yusuf Ali, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was ravaged by fire on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the fire, which broke out around 9:22 a.m., was triggered by a power surge.
Hassan Adekunle, spokesman for the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement.

Adekunle stated that the quick response of firefighters saved the 79 office rooms in the chamber, with only one room affected by the fire.
“On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 09:22 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to a fire outbreak at Ghalib Chambers, Unity Road, Ilorin.
“Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene. Their swift intervention prevented further destruction, containing the fire to a single office on the second floor of the two-storey building, which houses about 80 offices”, Hassan said.
He remarked that, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was caused by a power surge, which affected an air conditioner and some books.”
