Wednesday, 9 April 2025

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two individuals on charges of criminal conspiracy and car theft.

On Tuesday, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, issued a press statement revealing this information.

The statement read, “On 29 March 2025 at about 1900 hours, Yahuza Haruna, a 41-year-old resident of the Gidan Gona area in Bauchi Metro, reported to the Command that earlier that same day, at about 1800 hours, he parked his motor vehicle, a green 2000 model Honda Civic with registration number ALK-627-GG, at Yelwan Tudu market.

“Upon his return, he discovered the vehicle was missing and suspected theft by unknown individuals, prompting him to notify the police.”

Wakil explained that after the report was received, a team of detectives was tasked with investigating the incident and retrieving the stolen vehicle.

He mentioned that the detectives tracked down the stolen car along the Maiduguri bypass, near the Awala roundabout.

“The vehicle was found with two individuals identified as Ibrahim Uzeru, a 30-year-old resident of Kashere Santuraki, Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State and John Paul 35-year-old resident of the Bayan Gari area, Bauchi State,” he stated.

The PPRO stated that when questioned, neither individual could offer a satisfactory explanation for the vehicle, which led to their arrest for further investigation.

He added, “During interrogation, one of the suspects, Ibrahim Uzeru, admitted to have received the stolen vehicle from his employer and mentioned that he had invited John Paul to accompany him to Durum and hand over the vehicle to an undisclosed individual.

“Uzeru also indicated that he had promised John Paul a sum of twenty thousand naira (₦20,000) as his reward.”

The statement added that the Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has instructed that the case be taken to court once the investigation is completed.
