The Presidency has confirmed the defection of Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
For months now, there have been rumours of the Zamfara helmsman defection to the ruling APC, which led to a visitation by six PDP governors in April, move to persuade him from joining the APC.

The Presidency confirmed his defection from PDP through a Facebook post by presidential media Bashir Ahmad, on Sunday.
“So Zamfara is back home, Welcome Matawalle,” the post read.
The defection has, however, not been confirmed by the governor.
