Twitter, Facebook Block Trump Over Capitol Attack Posts
Donald Trump

Microblogging site, Twitter has imposed a 12-hour suspension of the account of the United States President, Donald Trump.

Twitter in a statement threatened to permanently suspend Trump’s account over violations of its community rules.

The social media organisation said it removed three of Trump’s tweets for violating its Civic Integrity policy.

In similar vein, Facebook and Instagram barred Trump from posting at the social network for 24 hours, saying his messages were promoting violence.

The unprecedented sanctions came after the president took to social media to repeat his claims about fraud and other impropriety in the election he lost to Joe Biden.

This inadvertently resulted in his supporters marching to Capitol Hill and protest congress affirmation of the US election.

The protesters eventually attacked the Capitol Hill despite the proceedings of the US congress.
