Obasanjo

Former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has lamented over the death of prominent Nigerian leaders as a result of the COVID-19 virus.

The elder statesman lamented on Thursday while reacting to the demise of Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (rtd).

He expressed that the novel virus is taking away Nigeria’s patriotic leaders.

Obasanjo regretted that resourceful citizens, who have served the nation faithfully had succumbed to the virus.

The former President stated this in a letter of condolence he sent to the wife of the late Rear Admiral, Mrs Gladys Ndubuisi Kanu.

The former President eulogized the late Kanu, noting that he was a dedicated officer, a gentleman, and a real patriot.

He said: “It is noteworthy that in the course of his military service which straddled more than two decades, he acquitted himself as a dedicated officer, a gentleman and a real patriot,” the letter read in part.

Obasanjo also described the late Bolu Akin-Olugbade, who equally reportedly died of COVID-19 complications, as a passionate Nigerian, who was always in defense of her unity, as he was devoted to his roots.

“All Owu people have lost a great son,” Obasanjo remarked.
