The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has embarked on a two-week warning strike. Biodun Ogunyemi, national president of the union, announced this at the end of the national executive council meeting at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
Kano Government Dethrones Emir Sanusi
Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi ll has been dethroned over disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies. The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said the removal was with immediate effect.
Nigeria Records Second Case Of Coronavirus
A Nigerian man who had contact with Nigeria’s index case, the Italian has tested positive for coronavirus. Osagie Ehanire, minister of health, made this known at a press briefing in Edo state on Monday, as he urged Nigerians not to panic.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero Becomes New Emir Of Kano
The Kano State Government has announced the appointment of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the new emir of Kano. Bayero, who is the son of late Emir Ado Bayero, replaces Muhammad Sanusi 11, who was dethroned and banished to Nasarawa on Monday.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control Nigerian(NCDC) says the Nigerian who tested positive for Covid-19 in the U.S. likely contacted the disease outside Nigeria. The NCDC disclosed this in a tweet on its Twitter handle on Sunday.
Sanusi Lamido Should Run For Presidency – Deji Adeyanju
Popular human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the removal of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano by the State Government. According to the State Government, the former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor was dethroned due to his “total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the governor and other lawful authorities.”
Eedris Abdulkareem Mocks Emir Sanusi Over His Dethronement
Veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has mocked Muhammadu Sanusi II after he was dethroned as the Emir of Kano. The former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor was dethroned by the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led administration on Monday morning.
