The viability of Ruga is dependent on its acceptance by the host communities - Shehu Sani

The lawmaker that represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani has also reacted to the proposed Ruga settlements by the federal government. The federal government has said that the aim of the settlements for herders is to help eliminate hostilities between farmers and cattle herders.

However, Shehu Sani has said that for the plan to be successful, then the government must ensure that they establish such settlements in areas where there are no hostilities. According to him, “o establish Ruga in a hostile environment is like throwing Butter into a Pan of Hot oil. ”

He notes also that the program can only work where there is acceptance by the host communities and not by FG’s unilateralism or by its approval or objections by the state Governors.

He tweeted thus on Monday: To establish Ruga in a hostile environment is like throwing Butter into a Pan of Hot oil. The viability of Ruga is dependent on its acceptance by the host communities and not by FG’s unilateralism or by its approval or objections by the state Governors.
