The FIFA best footballer of the year award would take place tonight in London. Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohammed Sallah and Luka Modric are all in the running for the award. This is the first time in 10 years that the award would be taking place without Argentine international, Lionel Messi.
The three finalists were all stellar for clubs and countries for the year in view. Ronaldo led Real Madrid to a record three consecutive UEFA Champions league trophy and was also the competiton’s highest goal scorer.
Mohammed Salah’s goal scoring exploit across Europe last season and also, his involvement in Liverpool’s Champions League final against Real Madrid appearance got him a spot on the finalist.
Also, Modric was a part of the Real Madrid team that won the Champions League 3 consecutively times and also took Croatia to their first ever World cup final appearance which was played against France.
As a result of this, football lovers have been on social media trying to figure outb who would emerge victorious tonight.
See what they are saying:
If Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't win #TheBest it means corruption nothing more. #Cristiano #CR7
