President Muhammadu Buhari while explaining the reason he trekked 800m to his home in Daura, said something that Nigerians will talk about for a while.
According to the president, he took the walk not to prove his fitness to anyone nor score cheap political points. He said he came out of the car, which had tainted glass, so the people of ‘his constituency’ could see him properly and that’s how he trekked with them.
He wrote:
Much has been said about my walk in Daura,a few days ago. I didn’t do it to prove my fitness to anybody. The people of my constituency came out in large numbers to see me, & the car in which I was had tinted windows. So I decided to come out of the car so the people could see me.

That statement has sparked anger amongst many Nigerians as they have taken to social media to vent.
According to them, Nigeria is Buhari’s constituency not Daura. They lambasted the president for his thinking it is OK to claim a particular region as his constituency and not the whole country.
See some reactions below
Modern Leadership sees humanity as the first constituency, their continent as another, then their country.
This one is a relic of a lost age, a sad throwback to individualism and selfishness – talking about Daura constituency and living large on oil money from Niger-Delta.

The man thinks he is the President of Daura.
Someone kindly explain to President @MBuhari that Nigeria, not Daura is his constituency. 😂😂😂😂
This explains a lot of his actions. The man sees himself as the King of the North.— Golf*Oscar*Delta*Delta*Yankee (@big_goddy) August 25, 2018
It is tragic that @MBuhari describes Daura as "my constituency." Sm1 pls remind him his constituency is #Nigeria https://t.co/hZepPuh2HJ
