Conjoined twins set to undergo separation surgery to save their lives

The Conjoined twins in Bangladesh whose lives are in danger because they are fused at the head are finally set to undergo surgery to separate them.

Rabia and Rukia were born in July 2016 and their parents had to wait agonizingly long to learn they can undergo the complicated procedure. Local reports indicate that the surgery is set be conducted in the next few weeks.

Rabia and Rukia’s parents Taslima Khatun Uno and Mohammed Rafiqul Islam only knew that their babies were conjoined after birth.

Taslima had earlier expressed her wish for her twins to be separated. She said: “For their future it’s necessary to separate the girls – they are not having a healthy life. If I don’t separate them now maybe in future they will ask why I didn’t separate them?”
