Bothered by the prolonged land disputes between Abagana, Ukpo, Abagana and Enugwukwu communities in Dunukofia and Njikoka Local Government Areas of the state, the governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has inaugurated a ten-member panel of inquiry to help solve the crises to prevent total anarchy.
The panel charged with the determination of the causes of the disturbances in these communities that have led to a loss of life consists of Justice Chinyelu Anigbogu as the Chairman and Mr. Nwabufor Nwankwo as the Secretary among several other members.
While speaking at the inauguration, the governor urged the ten-man panel to courageously tackle the issues and make recommendations to the state government that will permanently address the crises.
The panel will also determine the major parties in the dispute and the respective roles they played, the role of law enforcement and security agencies in addressing the dispute as well as make recommendations to the state government on measures to take that will permanently resolve the crises.
Governor Obiano, however, decried the prolonged crisis among three brotherly communities as well as the setbacks it has brought on them and said the panel will not only recommend measures to end the crises in the mentioned communities but will set a template that will be used to prevent it.
He has assured them of the state government’s support and enjoined them to ensure that the remedial report is submitted within the stipulated four-month period.
