Tiv Pastors and Ministers Forum Nigeria INC (TPMF), yesterday said the North West and North East cannot produce President elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and Senate president, insisting that the North Central should be allowed to produce the Senate president, in the spirit of fairness and justice.

In a statement signed by  the group’s President, Pastor Vitalis Yahemba, a copy of which was made available to Daily Sun in Kaduna, the group noted that it came to the conclusion to back the North Central, after its emergency meeting in Kaduna.

The group said it was throwing its weight behind one of its own, and called on Nigerians to adopt Senator George Akume, from Benue State, for the position.

“For the number one and number three citizen of the nation to come from core North, will be interpreted by many to mean that the North Central is ignored and marginalised despite the zone’s massive support for All Progressives Congress (APC), in the recent 2015 polls,” the group said, adding that denying North Central zone the chance to produce the Senate President would also confirm the assertion that the minorities in the North are willing tools in the hands of the majority.

“We support Senator George Akume for senate president from the North Central zone without bias because Senator Bukola Saraki hails from the Yoruba tribe from Kwara State North central. The vice president-elect also is from Yoruba tribe.

“Saraki joined APC last year. Senator Abdullahi Adamu, though a ranking senator, only joined APC from the PDP when the latter had crisis, in 2014. Also, the North East zone where some are advocating that the eighth National Assembly Senate President should come from, is also part of the core North.
