INEC issues certificate of return to elected legislators in Kogi

It was celebration galore  in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital as the Independent National Electoral Commission issued certificate of return to winners of the March 28th National Assembly election in the State.

Presenting the certificates to the winners at Satoof Hotels, Lokoja,the INEC Commissioner in-charge of Kogi, Nasarawa and Plateau states, Dr Abdulkadiri Oniyangi urged those elected to see their elections as call to service.

He said INEC on its part will continue to do everything possible to improve on its performance at the general elections even as he called on the losers not to be discouraged as there will always be a contest.

The All Progressives Congress won the three senatorial seats and five of the nine House of Representatives seats, while the ruling Peoples Democratic Party won in three federal constituencies.

Election into Dekina I constituency was. however declared inconclusive.

The three senators that were presented their certificates of return are: Hon. Dino Melaye (Kogi West), Senator Mohammed Ohiare (Kogi Central) and Abdulrahman Abubakar (Kogi East).

The five APC House of Representatives member-elects are Abdullahi Bello (Okene/Ogorimagongo), Lawal Idris (Ajaokuta), Hassan Omale (Ankpa/Omala), Buba Jubril (Lokoja/Koto-Karfe) and Kabiru Mohammed Ajana (Okehi/Adavi).

The three PDP Reps-elect that received their certificates of return are: Emmanuel Egwu (Idah/Ofu/Igalamela/Ibaji), Sunday Karimi (Yagba) and Tajudeen Yusuf (Kabba/Ijumu).

Responding on behalf of the National Assembly members-elect, Hon. Dino Melaye expressed happiness with their elections and commended INEC for conducting a credible election.
