Following agitation for the dissolution of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) National Working Committee, (NWC) by certain chieftains of the party, the Adamu Mu’azu leadership has alleged that the APC was plotting to cause division within its ranks.
National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh at the end of the party national working committee meeting told newsmen that the call for the dissolution of the party national working committee was part of the orchestrated plot to destabilise the party and continue to deplete its ranks. He pointed fingers of scorn at the APC.
Those calling for the change of leadership at Wadata Plaza attributed the dismal performance of the party to the complacency of the Adamu Mu’azu led leadership.
But Metuh told newsmen that ” the APC has been holding meetings with some elements within the party to hijack the party.
“While some of them have left, there are some within trying to create crisis.”
He warned that the party national leadership would no longer tolerate open criticism of its leadership on the pages of newspapers.
Metuh said:” The party administration isn’t done by rumors. Those who worked against the party, we won’t reply them.
Some elements have been recruited by APC to run the party down.
“Those who run the affairs of the party on the pages of newspapers, we won’t tolerate again. We have resolved to instal proper party discipline.”
He further told newsmen that the PDP NWC would meet with its aggrieved candidates next Tuesday, ” to have a holistic view of what really happened, to enable us take a final position on the 2015 general elections.”
The party also called on INEC to ensure that re-run governorship elections in Imo, Abia and Taraba States were conducted in a free and transparent manner.
“The NWC is determined to firmly resist any attempt whatsoever to subvert the will of the people or tamper with the process with the aim of denying our candidates their well-deserved victory at the polls.
“We therefore, in the strongest possible terms call on INEC and security forces to ensure that the elections in the affected areas are free, fair and credible and that every effort must be made to resist the intimidations and blackmails of clearly obsessed APC with the aim of manipulating the process in their favour.
“On this note, we charge our members, particularly those in states where elections have been rescheduled or declared inconclusive not to despair but remain focused as the NWC will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them until our deserved victory is achieved.”
