Bribery allegation: Amaechi lied -Lagos pastor

A Lagos-based pastor and Presiding Bishop, Resur­rection Praise Ministries for Africa, Bishop Ben­jamin Mustapha has said that Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi lied on the six billion naira bribe money allegedly of­fered by the Presidency to the Christian Association Nigeria (CAN).

Addressing a press conference in Lagos yesterday, Mustapha who said he was speaking for the CAN and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria said the presidency, did not at anytime offer bribe to the Christian body. He therefore, warned the All Progres­sives Congress (APC) to leave out the church and its leaders from their propaganda.

Recall that Governor Amaechi, who is also the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, recently alleged that the Presidency gave N6 billion bribe to CAN to mobilise support against his party’s presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari(retd).

The pastor challenged Amaechi to come forward and show evidence of where and when the money was given. While pointing out that the country was one, Mustapha said politicians should not in their quest for political power promote religious disharmony amongst the adherents of the various religious groups in the country.

“Amaechi said if pastors were given N6 billion naira to turn around . I chal­lenge governor Amaechi to come out and say where and when the money was collected. Dragging the names of our fathers in the lord to the mud, we will never allow that. A man must come out and stand for his father. That is exactly why I have come out to stand for our fathers that they are men of integrity,” he stated.

Besides, he said the APC must leave the church out of its propaganda, add­ing that the leadership of the church in Nigeria are men of integrity, who are more concerned about their pastoral duties than in sharing money.

“APC is taking propaganda too far. They are desecrating the alter of God. They don’t respect the Church. I am saying enough is enough. APC should leave Christians alone. APC should leave CAN leadership alone,” Musta­pha said.
