From JEFF AMECHI AGBODO, Abakaliki

Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State has said the civil servants in the state will move into the new Ocho-Udo Secretariat complex in February 2015.

The governor, who stated this during the presentation of the 2015 budget and appropriation bill to the state House  of Assembly for consideration said the state government had built one of the best civil service secretariats in Nigeria.

Elechi, who used the 2015 budget presentation to the state House of Assembly to chronicle his achievements since May 29, 2007 till date, said despite the numerous hiccups experienced over the years, his administration had fulfilled all his electoral promises to the people of the state and had also created a brighter hope for the future generation.

He said his administration had fully rehabilitated Nkaliki hatchery, established three modern rice mills at Iboko Izzi, Onu-Igboji Ikwo and Oso-Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area and the Agriculture Development Corporation, which is driving the state government’s policies and programmes in the agriculture sector.

The governor noted that the state government had continued to subsidise boarding fees in 31public secondary schools in the state with school enrollment of 38, 750 students, saying that the government was equally dialoging with voluntary agencies whose schools were taken over by the defunct East-Central state government on modalities of handing over the schools back to them.

Elechi also stated that apart from encouraging the authorities of the Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki to restructure their courses and academic contents to reflect the modern needs of the state, effort had also been made to encourage self-help and capacity building.
