Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, signed the 2015 Appropriation Bill of N80.9billion and three other bills into law at the weekend.

The governor had, in December 2014 presented a budget of N80.774 billion to the state House of Assembly with the lawmakers passing N80.9 billion for the 2015 fiscal year.

The other bills were, Ekiti State Peace Corps (Repeal) Law, Grant of Pensions (Amendment) Law 2014 and Ekiti State Change of Official Logo (Amendment) 2014.

Appending his signature to the bills, Fayose said the 2015 budget focused on civil servants, education, health and the overall development of the state.

He said the law establishing Peace Corps initiated by the immediate past administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi was repealed because of alleged negative motives behind its establishment.

“Peace Corps was only carrying peace on the surface. The actual reason for its institution was evil.”

He said the Pension law was enacted to provide for the grant of pensions to former governors and their deputies, saying former governor, Segun Oni and others, who had served the state in such capacities, were the targeted beneficiaries.

“The law has restored full privileges and benefits to all former governors and their deputies,” he said.

Fayose, who lamented that the huge debt inherited from the immediate past administration was slowing down his administration, said,” we do not want to dwell on the challenges, but we want to forge ahead and deliver on our electioneering promises to the people.”
