Member of All Progres sives Grand Alliance (APGA) Board of Trustees, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has said that the formal burial of Igbo men, women and children who died during the country’s civil war that lasted for three years will finally unite the South East region.
Ezeonwuka, who stated that his dream was finally realized on January 15, 2015 when the heroes were finally buried, was sure the spirits of millions of Igbo that lost their lives in that war will now rest in peace.
He said: “Their restless wandering spirits had taken over the souls of our youths and used them to commit havoc. Kidnapping, armed robbery, occultism, rituals, drug trafficking and other vices have continued to pollute the image of Ndigbo before the outside world.
“Their spirits are also behind the plight of Igbo youths who have died in Sahara desert in search of greener pasture and those who are languishing in many prisons across European and Asian countries. “The problem of disunity between Ndigbo and apparent failure to realize certain political ambition in Nigeria are also traceable to the failure to accord the fallen heroes a befitting burial in line with our tradition as established by our forefathers.”
Ezeonwuka said he had for about 25 years agitated for the burial of the Biafran fallen heroes using the media and other avenue to reach out to the appropriate quarters among the Igbo, all but to no avail and thanked God that this has finally been realized.
