Security agents at the weekend, assured residents of Lagos state of adequate protection during and after the February 14 general elections.
They gave the assurance during a meeting with the Resident Electoral commissioner(REC) at the state Police Command Headquarters Ikeja.
The state Commissioner of Police,Mr Kayode Aderanti who chaired the occasion said”All the security agents,the Police,Army,Customs,Nigeria Immigration Service,State Security Service,Navy,Nigeria Air force,Federal Road Safety Corp,Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Federal Fire Service have meet with INEC today and we have all agreed to protect lives and property before,during and after the election.We have also agreed to meet regularly to fine tune ways on how to make sure that hoodlums will not disrupt the election.
“INEC has briefed us that it is ready to conduct a credible election and we as security agents have decided to work together to make sure that the promise of INEC to conduct a free and fair election is accomplished to the later.
The CP who read riot act to politicians warned that political leaders would be held responsible for their supporters misdeeds. “We the security agents have resolved to hold political leaders accountable for the misdemeanour of their followers and we mean it.
We want to use this medium to warn politicians to caution their Party supporters to be of good conduct during and after the elections as party leaders will be held liable for the actions of their supporters” he said.
