Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State says Akinwunmi Ambode, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 elections, will do better than himself if voted into power.

Fashola made the assertion when he met with tradesmen, artisans and farmers in Lagos on Tuesday, saying he was also certain that Ambode will not only start from where he will stop, but raise the bar far beyond his achievements of the last eight years.

“The time to make very important decision is now. I know Ambode, he worked with me for six years. I support your request for continuity and I am saying that Ambode will continue from where I will stop and do better,” said Fashola at the event attended by Yemi Osinbajo, the running mate to Mohammadu Buhari, APC presidential candidate and Ambode himself.

Speaking on his part, Osinbajo said the poor state of the nation’s economy has plunged many Nigerians into poverty, reiterating that there must be a change of government at the federal level to liberate Nigerians from poverty.

“No one is ignorant of all that is happening to us in this country. No one likes hunger and poverty but people are hungry. In 2015, only those who love to continue to be hungry would prefer that the government in power at the center remains there.

“By God’s grace, we would remove them from the seat of power. The people there presently cannot do anything because they don’t know how to. They lack the capacity and capability to govern the country. I pray for the farmers and artisans that the Lord will bless us in the incoming year.”

Speaking also, Ambode said from the time of Bola Tinubu to Babatunde Fashola as governors, Lagos has witnessed improved economic, social and political climate. Ambode enjoined Lagosians to vote en masse for the party during the gubernatorial elections as well as for the party’s presidential candidate, General Muhammed Buhari.
