FROM TAIWO AMODU, Abuja
The axed National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who had since been suspended indefinitely alongside three others had restated his aversion to the action of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) which he claimed lacked due process.
Reacting to the declaration of the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, in an interview published in the Tuesday’s edition of Daily Sun where Metuh claimed that the party premised its action on preliminary hearing as against fair hearing, the former Osun State governor said the action could not be justified. Oyinlola, in a statement signed by his media aide, Femi Adelegan, restated his stance that the action of Bamanga Tukur-led PDP NWC was bereft of due process.
“The opinion of Metuh suggests that the need to suspend Oyinlola, Baraje and others was considered as an act of emergency by the NWC, which considered it expedient to nail the accused officials without following due process instead of respect for the rule of law.
