As preparations intensify ahead of the July 12 Lagos local government elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has inaugurated a 40-member campaign council to drive grassroots mobilisation across the 57 LGAs and LCDAs.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by APC Lagos spokesperson Mogaji Oladejo, the council is chaired by former APC State Chairman, Babatunde Balogun, while Razak Ajala was named secretary.
During Tuesday’s inauguration ceremony in Ikeja, Lagos APC State Chairman charged the team to begin work immediately, saying, “The election is fast approaching. Take the campaign to every nook and cranny of Lagos. Mobilise the electorate to vote massively for our party. We must showcase the landmark achievements of our local governments.”

The council is divided into six strategic directorates: mobilisation, finance, security, media and publicity, electoral, and special duties—each led by key party figures.
Former Deputy Governor Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and Lagos SSG Abimbola Saliu-Hundeyin will coordinate efforts in Lagos West, while Abayomi Daramola and Chief Bolanle Olusanya lead Lagos Central.
Balogun expressed confidence in the team’s capacity, stating, “We understand the enormity of the task, but we are united in our resolve. Our focus is not just on winning the council polls but on laying the foundation for 2027.”
Oladejo added, “Our strategy is people-driven. We’re telling real stories of our achievements and what more we can deliver.”
The July 12 election, organised by LASIEC, is seen as a key test of strength for political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
