Lagos Taskforce Nab Motorcyclist Over Alleged Drug Trafficking

Tuesday, 29 April 2025

Operatives of Lagos State Taskforce have apprehended one Soji Inawole for allegedly using commercial motorcycle, popularly known as Okada, to traffic illicit drugs across the metropolis.

It was gathered that Soji, a 40 years old, reportedly involved in transporting illegal substances such as Colorado, Indian hemp, and other narcotics.

During the operation, officers discovered a stash of drugs, scissors, and other prohibited items hidden inside a school bag belonging to the suspect.

INFORMATION NIGERIA learnt that the arrest was made during a coordinated operation around the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ijaiye Bus Stop, and Agbado Railway Station Road, as part of the Taskforce’s intensified efforts to rid the city of criminal elements.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, in a statement on Monday, stated that the operation forms part of a broader strategy aimed at restoring public order and enforcing the state’s zero-tolerance stance on criminality.

He said: “Investigations further revealed that some Okada operators in the area are actively promoting the illicit drug trade by transporting substances between brothels and other locations.

“Several motorcycles used for these activities were also seized for violating traffic regulations and aiding criminal operations.

“This operation reflects our zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities that compromise the security of our communities. The suspects will face the full weight of the law as investigations continue.”
