“Don’t Blame My Religion For My Mistakes” – Naira Marley

Sunday, 23 March 2025

Nigerian singer Naira Marley has turned to social media to stress the significance of forgiveness, especially during Ramadan.

On Saturday, Marley shared a post on X, stating that Islam strongly upholds forgiveness, which makes it a “perfect religion.”

The singer noted that although Islam is “perfect and infallible,” its followers are “fallible and prone to mistakes.”

The ‘Chi Chi’ singer encouraged his followers to distinguish between their criticism of him and his religion.

“Islam is perfect, Muslims are not. If I make mistake, blame me, but not my religion,” he wrote.

Marley has faced public backlash since the passing of Mohbad, his former signee.

However, a Yaba magistrate court last month dropped the charges against him, Sammy Larry, and Prime Boy over their alleged connection to Mohbad’s death.

The Lagos DPP revealed plans to prosecute Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who attended to Mohbad, along with Ayobami Sadiq, one of the singer’s friends, for reckless and negligent actions.

Speaking on Mohbad’s death, Marley claimed he was betrayed by witnesses. The Marlian Music boss also insisted that he had reconciled with Mohbad before his passing and that they had moved past their differences.
