The Labour Party has reiterated its commitment to fielding Peter Obi as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
According to Abayomi Arabambi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, “Tinubu is not just going to have it very easy in 2027, we are coming back with that Peter Obi to them so that they will know we are very serious.”
Arabambi made this statement on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme on Wednesday, emphasizing the party’s determination to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The Labour Party is confident that Obi, who was the Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, will be a strong contender against Tinubu in 2027.

In addition, Arabambi criticized actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo for leaving the party, describing his exit as “good riddance to bad rubbish”.
Arabambi questioned Okonkwo’s loyalty to the Labour Party, accusing him of working for President Tinubu and the ruling APC.
“He should not speak about the Labour Party anymore,” Arabambi stated.
The Labour Party has dismissed rumors of a leadership crisis, with Arabambi affirming that “there is no leadership crisis in the Labour Party. Labour Party is not going into extinction. It is just a figment of the imaginations of most of our detractors.”
