Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, has accused the present administration of prioritizing Lagos State over others.
Kwankwaso alleged that Lagos is attempting to dominate other regions, particularly Kano, due to its “overwhelming support” from the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu government.

Speaking at Skyline University’s convocation ceremony in Kano on Sunday, Kwankwaso stated, “Today, we can see very clearly that there are significant efforts from the Lagos axis to colonise this part of the country. Lagos wouldn’t allow us to choose even our Emir; instead, they want to impose their own Emir on Kano.”
He further emphasized, “Lagos today feel they only are Nigeria, interfering in other states’ affairs. We will not tolerate such actions here in Kano.”
Critics argue that Lagos has received undue attention, with numerous projects worth trillions of naira, to the detriment of other states.
