Nigerian Customs Intercept Smuggled Goods Worth N690m

Friday, 28 October 2022

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘B’ intercepted 758 bales and sacks of smuggled used clothing and body cream with duty paid value of N690.8 million within the zone.

The NCS Comptroller, Albashir Hamisu, taking newsmen round the items in Kaduna State on Friday, said that the seized items include 473 cartons of foreign pharmaceutical products.

He said, ”The operations unit has recorded a lot of successes. We recorded 132 seizures.

”Other items seized are 533 cartons of foreign pasta, macaroni, and 749 bags of foreign parboiled rice.”

He said that smugglers were getting sophisticated in their illegal acts.

”We conducted this operation based on information gathered from the military.

“This is a big catch through the land border. The federal government has good plans for Nigeria. If these are allowed to come in, our textile industries would not survive,” he said.

He said 24 units of used vehicles were also seized.
