Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has expressed disappointment after the card reader at his polling unit failed during the Lagos local government elections.
Gbajabiamila stated this while speaking to Channels Television on Saturday.
He said the incident was a sign that Nigeria is not ready for electronic transmission of results.
Referencing election officials, the Speaker stated that the card reader failed due to poor network coverage.
This statement is coming days after the National Assembly passed the electoral amendment act which gave conditional power to the Independent National Electoral Commission to transmit results electronically.
