Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has called on the Federal Government to legalise the usage of firearms for citizens of the country to protect themselves against insurgent attacks.
The former Minister made this call in reaction to a statement by the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, advising Nigerians to defend themselves against bandits.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode described the Minister as a failure.

He wrote:
“The Defence Minister says Nigerians are cowards, that they always run when attacked by terrorists & that they should defend & protect themselves.
Does he know that it is HIS job to protect the people & he failed?
Equip every Nigerian with an AK 47 & see if they will still run.”
