Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has expressed that there is a possibility of more terrorist activities in Nigeria for the next 20 years.
This opinion was expressed in a message posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
Buratai said: “There is a general misunderstanding of what insurgency and terrorism entail. There is the likelihood of terrorism persisting in Nigeria for another 20 years.”

However, according to Buratai, “It only depends on the level of escalation and the appropriate responses by all stakeholders both civil and military authorities. Also by both local in international actors.”
He also called on the people of the country to work together to end insecurity.
Buratai’s statement is coming at a time when there have been a lot of calls for his sack alongside other service chiefs over the insecurity in the nation.
