It’s Not True That African Fans Don’t Pay For Music – Mr Eazi

Wednesday 16 December 2020

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Mr Eazi, has said that African fans actually do spend a lot on music consumption, which is contrary to the widely-held belief that African fans don’t create revenue for artists because of the abundance of illegal streaming platforms.

The ‘Leg Over’ crooner, whose real name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, took to his Twitter page on Wednesday to write that the system needs to change. The music entrepreneur is looking at a means whereby fans can get returns for their patronage.

In his words:

“African Fans Don’t Pay For Music” This is False! M.O.F Our fans spend roughly up to 25cents a Month on music consumption! Stake holders just have to ensure that a warm % of The Revenue is redirected to the creatives!! We need to discuss this and effect change soon. #Africa”
