Coronavirus: FG Shuts Down Three International Airports

The federal government of Nigeria has ordered the shut down of three international airports as a preventive measure against the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

This was made public by Bashir Ahmad, a presidential aide, via his official Twitter handle on Friday.

He listed the airports as Mallam Aminu Kano Airport, Kano; Akanu Ibiam Airport, Enugu; and the Port Harcourt Airport, Rivers.

He wrote:

UPDATE: The Federal Government has shut down three international airports as part of its strategic measures to curb the spread of #coronavirus across the country. The airports are; Mallam Aminu Kano Airport, Kano; Akanu Ibiam Airport, Enugu; and the Port Harcourt Airport, Rivers.

In a statement signed by the Director-General of the @NigerianCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, he says Kano, Rivers and Enugu international airports will be closed till further notice effective Saturday, March 21st.

The Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos will still be opened for now, but no flight operations will be allowed from the 13 #coronavirus high-risk countries. #CoronaVirusUpdate
