The Department of State Services (DSS) has been granted permission by the federal high court in Abuja to detain Omoyele Sowore for 45 days. Sowore, the convener of the RevolutionNow protest was arrested by the DSS last Saturday.

Buhari Orders Probe Into Death Of Policemen ‘Mistakenly’ Killed By Soldiers

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident which led to the death of three police officers and a civilian. The President gave the orders to the Defence Headquarters on Thursday, following an incident involving the troops of 93 Battalion, Takum, Taraba that resulted in the deaths.

This was made known by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, while speaking with State House correspondents at the end of the meeting of the National Security Council, presided over by President Buhari at the State House, Abuja.

Former INEC Chairman Lands In EFCC Custody For Money Laundering

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has remanded in its custody the former Chairman of Independent Electoral Commission, Professor Maurice Iwu, following a court order.

The order was given by Justice Chuka Austin Obiozor of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Thursday, pending the hearing and determination of his bail application on Friday.

Police Reveal Identities Of Its Officers Killed By Soldiers

The names and photographs of the three officers shot dead by soldiers in Taraba state have been revealed by the police. Police spokesperson, Frank Mba, in his announcement on Wednesday revealed how some soldiers killed the police officers along Ibi-Jalingo road in the state by opening fire on them.

The deceased were said to have gone to Taraba to arrest one suspect simply identified as Hamisu — “indicted in a series of high-profile kidnap incidents in the state. ”

Sowore’s Detention Falls Below International Standard — Ohanaeze

The Igbo apex socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has called for the release of publisher of SaharaReporters Omoyele Sowore, arrested and detained by the Department of State Services last Saturday.

Sowore is the main organiser of the #RevolutionNow protest which was scheduled to hold on August 5 nationwide. The national leader of the youth wing of Ndigbo of the group, Arthur Obiorah, in a statement on Thursday said there was no way the intention of the protest was to disrupt government agenda.
