The UK government gave the advise on its website, asking its citizens to be very alert and monitor local media. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advised against travelling to States like Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe in north, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States in the south as well as Bauchi, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi and Abia states.
