Ibadan: 8 people injured as two-storey building collapses

A new report has confirmed that 8 persons have been left injured as a two-storey building collapses in Ibadan.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the building which was located on Eleyele road in Jericho area of Ibadan, was under construction when it suddenly collapsed at about 4.pm injuring 8 persons instantly.

Mr Kazeem Adebayo, one of the bricklayers that was working on the site stated that they had begun casting the concrete on one part of the building when it began to collapse at about 3.30 pm. He added that the site engineer’s attention was immediately drawn to the development.

Adebayo, however, revealed that despite the attention of the engineer been brought to the issue on ground, he ordered them to continue working until the building eventually collapsed injuring those working close by.

Dada Abimbola, an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, who spoke with NAN, confirmed that no one died in the incident while the injured persons have since been taken to the hospital.
