A female prisoner at the Afokang prison, Calabar has birthed twins, a boy and girl.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the news was confirmed by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong, who revealed that the woman gave birth on Thursday at the Prison yard in Calabar.
The commissioner while confirming the news said she got a distress call from the prison workers saying the woman had gone into labour. She was later delivered of twins.
Dr Asibong continued saying the state government will take responsibility of the twins adding that the mother of the kids suffered postpartum mobility. The kids have been named Benedict and Linda Ayade.
