Stamford Bridge had been a fortress under former coach, Jose Mourinho, during his first stint in charge of the London club. The Portuguese manager went 78 games at Stamford bridge before finally losing 2-1 to Sunderland in what became his first lost as a Chesea coach.
It started in August 2004 when the self acclaimed ‘special one’ began his first competitive fixture as Chelsea boss, ended in a 1-0 win over Manchester United thanks to a goal from Eidur Gudjohnsen.
Chelsea, under Maurizio Sarri are also showing similar traits as they are unbeaten in their last 11 home matches in the present campaign which is their best such run in the competition since 2015. Let’s see how long they can hold on.
