Mr. Nathaniel Sharibu, Father of Miss Leah Sharibu has cautioned against the spread of fake news that his daughter, Leah, has been released by Boko Haram. Sharibu said it was fake information that Leah had been released, adding that the development has been affecting his Blood Pressure (BP).
In a telephone interview with Daily Sun, Sharibu said, “It is fake information. You people are rising my BP concerning this issue. My BP is rising up.”
Sharibu further said his earnest prayer and desire is that Leah is released, saying “that is what we are praying for.”
Expressing displeasure over the fake information, Sharibu said “even on the internet this morning, I saw it. I am worried,” Sharibu added.
Earlier, Sharibu told Saturday Sun that President Muhammadu Buhari spoke with Leah’s mother, Mrs. Rebecca Sharibu, on Tuesday.
He reiterated his earlier call on the media not to relent, but to constantly put the call for Leah’s release on the front burner.
Sharibu who sounded hopeless during the conversation, however expressed gratitude to the media for the efforts in ensuring that Leah is released.
Recall that the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA), in a recent update on Leah, gave the federal government, one month ultimatum to respond to its demand for ransom or have Leah killed.
Following the development, the Sharibu family urged the government to respond to the demand by the insurgents in order to secure the release of Leah.
Earlier in the week, President Muhammadu Buhari, spoke with Mrs. Sharibu and assured that the government would do everything possible to ensure the safe return of Leah.
Leah was abducted by ISWA, a faction of Boko Haram on February 19, 2018, alongside other students from the Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.
A month after the abduction,104 of the abducted students were released, five others died, with Leah still in captivity.
