The All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship primary election has been upheld by relevant authorities, though earlier cancellation had lifted the hopes of some supporters. As it stands, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been declared winner, displacing incumbent Governor Akinwumi Ambode.
Many Nigerians have received the news with mixed feeling and here’s what they had to say about the outcome of the election.
Take a look below:
Rochas son-inlaw came a distant 7th in Imo State APC primaries. Godfatherism doesn’t work in the South East. Everyone is a strong man. That kind of feudal overlord leadership that is pervasive in the South West is dead on arrival in South East. #LagosAPCPrimaries pic.twitter.com/AAzXAIOKv8

Lagos has the best set of journalists, pundits & intellectuals. Most educated Nigerians reside in Lagos. But an half baked accountant decides who leads them every four years. It was Ambode but the ATM stopped dispensing, now it's Sanwo-Olu. Smart Lagosians 😀#LagosAPCPrimaries

The way Sanwoolu is flogging Ambode eh, you'll think that it is a contest between a Rhinoceros and a sheep. Ambode is a weakling or practically confused. If you can't fight, leave with your head held high. Now he will leave in shame. #LagosAPCPrimaries

#LagosAPCPrimaries The people you see outside today are the people Tinubu listens to first, they are his primary concern. He has also surrounded himself with smart elites to enrich his base. He is not a godfather, he is a smarter politician.

Irrespective of whatever Tinubu’s influence is – and it is big – Ambode must ask himself how he managed to alienate such a huge cross section of his party to be inflicted with a humiliation this spectacular #LagosAPCPrimaries

People are failing to see that it's not about tinubu, the party members are the ones making this call. They stood with fashola when jagaban was against him, remember? #LagosAPCPrimaries

I'm waiting for @AkinwunmiAmbode to lose the primaries, decamp to another party and yet win the governorship election..
That will be twist of fate!
That will be separation of power!
That will be a new Lagos!
That will be the change we desire!#LagosAPCFraud #LagosAPCPrimaries— Tolulope Abiola (@diranabiola) October 1, 2018
This #LagosAPCPrimaries Is Not About Tinubu Being Godfather, Ambode Lost The Public That Voted Him In, And If Tinubu Backs Him, Tinubu Will Risk Losing The Same Public That Believe In His Leadership… People Are Not That Stupid, Its Clear That Sanwo Olu is The One Eko Wants.

It is only in Nigeria Politics that people will fight you just because you are not sharing the national cake. A True democrat can never contest and win election in Nigeria & if he eventually wins, he will be disgraced out of office. This is the case of Ambode #LagosAPCPrimaries

#LagosAPCPrimaries is happening on a working day and there is massive turnout. It only shows how deep unemployment and poverty is.
Just take a look at the people voting, mostly poor people leaving their sources of income to come and vote for another puppet of a leader.
