Brazil’s 100 Years Old Record Breaker, Andreas Pereira, Reveals Why He Has Just ‘Andreas’ At The Back Of His Shirt

Friday 12 October 2018

Brazilian International, Andreas Pereira, who plays  for Manchester United in the English Premiership broke Brazil’s 100 years old record by coming on as a second half substitute in their match against USA, during a friendly match last month. He became the first player born outside Brazil to represent the Samba boys with his second half showing.

The midfielder whose stock has risen since he returned to the Red Devils after a successful loan spell with Spanish LaLiga side, Valencia, started the season on a bright note but has dropped to the bench owing to the stiff competition in the Red Devil’s midfield.

The Brazilian who is also eligible to play for Belgium as a result of his place of birth, revealed yesterday while fielding questions from Journalists, during a training session why he has just Andreas at the back of his shirt.

What he said below:

”It’s because a lot of players have Pereira,”

“My dad used to play with Pereira on the back and I wanted to change because, in Belgium, everyone knows I’m the son of my dad. The son of Pereira.

I wanted to change that and start my own way and be Andreas on my own and be known as Andreas.”
