Senator Ben Murray Bruce has urged Nigerians to insist that all presidential candidates for the 2019 general elections to undergo a public debate.
The federal lawmaker said that Nigerians must refuse to vote a candidate that refuses to debate. Speaking via Twitter on Thursday, the senator from Bayelsa state said anyone willing to be employed in an organization is usually interviewed.
He therefore noted that it would be out of order for those seeking the presidential position not to be interviewed.
He wrote:
I urge Nigerians to insist on a Presidential debate. Refuse to vote for any candidate who dodges the debate. If you want to hire a worker, you must interview him. How can any candidate expect us to vote for him or her as President if they refuse to be interviewed by Nigerians?
