Senator Ben Murray Bruce has said educating the poor is the only way Nigeria can overcome poverty.
The federal lawmaker in his advocacy for education says Nigeria must invest in educating the poor, if it plans to reduce poverty. Ben Bruce also stated that what the government currently allocates to education is too small, if there are plans to lift the country out of the current poverty index.
Speaking via twitter earlier, Senator Ben Bruce advised government to ‘radically’increase spending on education in order to reduce its spending on security. He wrote:
If the poor can’t sleep then the rich won’t sleep either
If Nigeria is to reduce poverty, we must spend more on education than we current spend. If we dont radically increase our spending on education, we will radically increase our spending on security, because if the poor can’t sleep, you better know that the rich won’t sleep either.

Every minute in India, 70 people escape poverty. In the time it took you to read this tweet, 35 Indians will escape poverty. Think about that! How is India doing it? EDUCATION. Nigeria can only stop being the world’s headquarters for extreme poverty if we spend more on education!
