The FIFA world best finalist have been announced today with the winner to be announced later in September 24th in London. Barcelona’s captain , Lionel Messi, is missing from the shotlist for the first time in 10 years and this is causing uproar among his fans.
The trio of Portugal striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, Croatia midfielder, Luka Modric and Egypt forward, Mohammed Salah are in the running for the award. This is causing uproar among football lovers as some feel the credibility of the award is under doubt.
Others are of the opinion that Kylian Mbappe, Antonine Grizeman and Eeden Hazard deserve a spot on the list since these people had a wonderful World cup outing as against Mo Salah.
See their reactions below:
When #TheBest is not the best. No way Messi should be excluded from the list. No Griezmann or Mbappé either. In a World Cup year. You'd think FIFA's big tournament would hold more sway in a FIFA award. But it's 25% fan vote, so Cristiano the favourite again.

I’m fully convinced that the same people who think Messi doesn’t deserve to be there but think Ronaldo and Salah do don’t actually watch Messi play. The stats speak for themselves, he was by far the best player of the last season. #FIFAFootballAwards #TheBest pic.twitter.com/JhZeJhgSBU

If Modric wins this #TheBest, then FIFA should apologize to Ribbery, Iniesta, Xavi, Sneijder, Neuer… Since it's now like that
