The highest football governing authority, FIFA, has announced the three man shortlist for the prestigious award scheduled to take place in London on September 24th.
Luka Modric who won the UEFA edition of the award is also on the list with Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohammed Salah.
Barcelona’s captain, Lionel Messi is missing in the list for the first time since 10 years even after winning the League and the Spanish super cup last season.

Cristiano Ronaldo (7)
- Won the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid
- Finished 2017/18 as the Champion League’s top scorer (15)
- Won FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017
- Won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid for a record three consecutive times.
- Has been Champion League’s top scorer for 5 consecutive seasons
Luka Modrić (10)
- Captained Croatia to their first ever FIFA World Cup Final
- Won the Adidas Golden Ball at Russia 2018
- Won the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid
- Won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid for a record three consecutive times.
- Also won the FIFA Club World Cup
- And equally won the UEFA best player award
Mohamed Salah (10)
- Helped Liverpool to UEFA Champions League final last season.
- Scored 32 goals during English Premier League campaign, setting new scoring record
- Finished joint-second in 2017/18 Champions League scoring chart
