Nigerian Foods Versus Exercise

Wednesday 11 October 2017

You’ve been exercising like a maniac…but… your weight loss result is disappointing.

What could be wrong? I’ll tell you…

You see, exercise is not as effective for weight loss as people think. I’ll show you some prove in sec.

First, let me quickly summarise how weight loss happens (I have a more in-depth article HERE).

Now, in theory, for you to lose weight, you need to consume fewer calories than your body uses. And you can do this by eating less or increasing physical activity or both.

Note this: It’s much easier to cut a significant amount of calories from your diet alone than it is to burn the same calories through exercise.

To show you what I mean, look at the infographics below:

You can clearly see that it is w-a-y easier not to eat that food than to do the workout required to burn the exact calories.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you should not exercise at all to lose weight, exercise is amazing for your body and soul.

Exercise has its time and place.

All I’m hammering is that you should not feel a sense of false security when you exercise, and go and eat food you shouldn’t.

That’s the problem I see time and time again with people trying to lose weight. They do a little exercise, and then feel its okay to eat any type of food they want.

So the ideal weight loss scenario will be a proper eating plan (first!) combined with a proper workout plan.

In conclusion, no matter how much you exercise, you’ll hardly lose any weight …if… you “lose guard” on your nutrition.

So your nutrition should be first followed by exercise. let’s keep exercising and more importantly, watch what we are eating.
